Donate to BIAV

Thanks to donors like you, BIAV is able to make a difference in the lives of over 10,000 individuals each year. To find out how your donation will touch the brain injury community and/or how our expenses are allocated, see our 2015-2016 Annual Report

You can also support BIAV by becoming a member.

Consider these suggested donation options:

  • $75 gives someone one hour of individualized technical assistance and support from an Information and Referral Specialist, who listens, answers their questions, provides personalized information packets, and assists them to find the treatment and care needed.
  • $150 furnishes 50 school nurses and parents with educational handouts to inform them of the common signs of brain injury and what to do if they don’t go away.
  • $300 awards 10 scholarships to persons with brain injury or family caregivers to attend the BIAV annual conference, a full day education and support event, to assist them through the changes they face as a result of a lifelong, often devastating brain injury.
  • $535 sends an adult with brain injury to spend a week at Camp Bruce McCoy, where he/she will build confidence, foster new friendships, overcome challenges and most importantly, have fun.

Donations are tax deductible and you can donate to BIAV online, or if you prefer to send your donation by mail, please fill out our donation form and mail it along with your check to the address below.

You can make a donation to the Brain Injury Association of Virginia through the United Way. The process is simple! When you fill out your form, go to the section that allows you to designate and write in the correct campaign number for BIAV. Following are the campaigns in which BIAV participates and the corresponding giving codes.

  • United Way Campaign - UWC# 56127
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign - CVC # 3059
  • Local Government and Schools United Way Campaign - LGS # 215
  • Combined Federal Campaign -  CFC # 56127

Note: United Way Campaign rules only allow gifts of $50 or more to be designated to an agency, otherwise the monies are directed to the United for All Fund, of which BIAV is not a beneficiary. If you support more than one organization, each designation must be at least $50.

Stock Donations

Gifts of stock are a win-win way to support the Brain Injury Association of Virginia. BIAV receives the full value of the gift and you don’t have to pay capital gains taxes on those shares. To make a gift of stock, please contact your financial advisor and ask them to contact our brokerage representative Ron Kiser at SunTrust at (804) 819-6853. Or contact Sheela Nimishakavi at our central office at (804) 355-5748 for BIAV’s DTC# and brokerage account number.

Donate to Camp Bruce McCoy

Each year, the Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV) hosts Camp Bruce McCoy, a nationally recognized summer camp program for survivors of brain injury, at the Triple-R Ranch in Chesapeake, VA. Camp McCoy provides a wonderful recreational experience to more than 80 individuals, as well as respite for their families who often provide 24-hour care the remainder of the year.

BIAV is very proud that no one has ever been turned away due to their ability to pay. This is only possible because of the support of donors; their generosity allows us to maintain the quality programming that has been our hallmark for years. Below is a list of things that can be sponsored by groups or individuals that are needed to run this great program. If you are able to help with any of these items, please contact BIAV at 804-355-5748 or 1-800-444-6443 for details. You can also donate to camp online, please just make a note that the donation is for camp.
